MASSACHUSETTS: Tell Your Representative You Want GMO Labels in 2016!
July 1, the date that Vermont’s GMO labeling law takes effect, is just around the corner. Some companies have already started labeling their products nationally.
But consumers in Massachusetts want labels on all products containing genetically modified ingredients, not just some of them.
TAKE ACTION: Call and email your Representative today!
Fill in the form on this page to look up your Representative's phone number. Tell the staffer your name and where you live and that you're counting on your Representative to urge the Speaker of the House to bring H. 4156, the GMO labeling bill, to a vote this session.
Then, click submit to send a follow-up email.
On Wednesday, June 8, join the Massachusetts Coalition for GMO Labeling for a Lunch-in for Labeling at the State House in Boston. Details here and on Facebook.
The Massachusetts GMO labeling bill is the most popular bill at the State House, with support from over 75 percent of the legislature.
So why isn’t passing this bill a slam dunk?
Because Monsanto and the junk food industry are willing to do whatever it takes to keep you in the dark about what’s in your food.
Thanks to your calls, emails and visits, H. 4156 was referred to the House Ways and Means Committee after being unanimously passed by the Environment Committee. Now it’s up to the Speaker to bring this bill to the House floor for a vote.
The legislative session ends in July, so the time to act is now!
